Eyedropper Chooses A Different Color

The eyedropper won't pick the color I select. If I keep selecting the same color with the eyedropper, it keeps getting darker. Video attached.

For example, F16F24 becomes FF6500 - and all the rest of the properties change too. It won't ever pick the correct color outside of black & white. Is the eyedropper supposed to select a different color, or the one I select? Have I been using it wrong for 10 years?

most controls that sample color ( eyedropper, etc. ) are really a 'sampling' of several pixels in the image... and is remembered by the program's decision about what 'single' color that represents. That's how masks are determined in color and other stuff, sorta... it's not a sampling of a single pixel.

If I were you and I used the tool and didn't like the outcome, I would use UNDO to go back and then resample until you are happy.

🙂

There has been some issues with the eyedropper, so you might want to search the forums, or even user voice where bug issues are reported: User Voice - Premiere Pro

I thought maybe you have your monitor scaled, but I see now you are on a mac? Do you have monitor scaling on? If so to what? If you set it to 100% do you have that issue.

I tried a bunch of combos to duplicate your issue, but was unable to.

I have scaling off -- it's set to Default for display. Is there maybe a better color profile I could use?

If I export a still frame from this, and take that into PS - it finds the correct color. That's where I'm really confused. I know there's a difference in how Premiere handles color, but it just makes it difficult when you have strict brand guidelines and can't make a quick color picker file. I know I never had this problem in AE - or when moving between PS and AE.
