Question

Facebook and Youtube Shooting and Editing

I want to improve my workflow to quickly shoot and edit videos to Youtube and Facebook.

Can someone help with a workflow - For youtube I shoot landscape HD and export with the youtube settings.

However for Facebook I know square or vertical videos work better - Does Adobe offer any tutorials on best way to shoot and edit?

Do I need to shoot videos twice or is it a simple edit changing the dimensions and then cropping video to fit on square or vertical dimensions?

Please help.

Have you tried Auto Reframe?

April 29, 2021

No can you help me please?

I want to make lots of videos for Youtube and Facebook and I want to get the dimensions right.

For example, I know have a video that is 1920 x 1200 - It is a screen recording of my macbook screen.

Bit I have tried changing it to 1080 x 1080 and uploading to Facebook but facebook adds black lines to the sides as well as above...

What should I do?

Please help

Here's a detailed guide to Auto Reframe from an expert:

https://youtu.be/bfmhuIaFPhA

Basically, Auto Reframe uses aritficial intelligence in Premiere Pro to look at your sequence and change it to another resolution by trying to follow the important action and scaling/shifting to keep it in the frame. It should give you a good start at least and then if adjustments need to be made, the result can be tweaked by the editor. It is designed specifically what you're describing...getting a video to look right on different platforms.

However, there's no guarantee that it will work in every case. If you're using screen recordings, there may or may not be enough change for the AI to find the action. (Don't know what you're recording.) It's worth a shot. Even if you try it and it doesn't give you the desired result, you will at least be able to see what the concept is and how to do it manually yourself. Before auto effects like the came along, that's how everyone did this... 100% manually.

If you need to export at different resolutions, I have seen people do their original sequence for 16:9 and then bring that into a new sequence with the different frame size and then just move the footage and/or scale as needed to fit the new frame size and then export at that. The other option is to use one of the presets in media encoder and queue up different resolutions of your video and it'll crop to the center. Less control but maybe easier if you happen to frame everything for that.
