fading in/out of a scrolling text on screen

Question

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to fade a scrolling text in at the point that it appears in the scroll? I don't mean cross dissolve the whole text.

Also is there a way for the scroll out to also happen earlier than the top of screen?

Basically, this is what I am trying to do, imagine a box in the middle of the screen where the text is fading and scrolling in from the bottom and fading while scrolling at the top.

you could put a box mask over it with feather so and then in keyframe change the opacity form 0-100 as it comes in an reverse as it goes out. dozen other ways but much easier in after effects keyframe and opacity is the key....
