Feather corners of video

Hello,

I have an idiotically simple question. I have a video on top of another video, and I want to soften the edges of the top video, so it blends in a little. What is the easiest way of doing this? And please use simple words...I scare easily.

Thanks

Select the desired clip in the Timeline panel, then go to the Effect Controls panel. Twirl the Opacity to see its options. Click the ellipse or rectangle or pen tool to create a mask. You will see options in the Mask for Mask Feather and Mask Opacity that you can tweak to your desired effect.

Drop the Edge Feather on the top clip. Tweak for the desired effect.

If you just want the corners to feather you will have to mask the layer from Opacity and use the feather from there.

could you explain "mask the layers from opacity" as though I am a 6 year old child, please?

Have a look at the vignette options in the lumetri colour correction panel or the feather option on the linear wipe effect.
