File uses unsupported video compression type "vp09"

I recorded a video using DJI Action 2 camera and when I try to import (drag and drop) to premiere pro latest version, only the audio will get imported. I get an error message that says - File uses unsupported video compression type "vp09".

Workaround that I use on my windows machine - edit the video first using default windows editing software Clipchamp video editor and save the clip and then import it to Premiere Pro.

Premiere Pro version - 24.1.0 (Build 85)

Platform - Windows 11 home - version 23H2; OS build - 22631.3078

Correct answer Ann Bens

Premiere does not support vp09.

Need to convert first, preferably to prores.

I FOUND A SOLUTION: put the damaged vp09 videos through media encoder and then it will convert it to an undamaged file

Yeah, that's a pain to convert every file. Hope Premiere Pro can fix that soon.
