Finding Unused Adobe Premiere Pro Video Previews

I would like to delete all the Video Preview files that aren't part of my final sequence. Is there a way to determine the ones that are no longer of use to me so I can throw them away? I know exactly how to go about this in Avid, but no idea in Premiere.

How would you like the feature to work?

When I am done with a project, I would like to be able to highlight the final sequence, go to Project Manager and select some button that says something like "Delete all preview files not associated with the selected sequence(s)." It would be great if there were another button that said "Delete all media not associated with the current sequence(s)."

Why is this feature important to you?

When I think I'm finished with a project (because you never know for sure), I like to clear up space quickly without having to go through the larger and more time- and space-consuming process of first backing up my sequence and/or project.

Hi @Martinnel,

Thanks for the note. Sounds like you are looking for a way to delete video preview files not referenced in the current sequence. Is that correct? I don't believe there is a way to do that. You might try inspecting the folder with the video preview files, sort by date, and then manually delete any of the older files. You can probably delete most of the older video preview files to free up some space. I hope the advice helps. Sorry for the frustration.

Legend

You have a couple options here.

1. Don't worry about the previews for now. When you're done with the project, delete them all.

2. Delete them all now and rebuild them, which would give you only "needed" files.

Yes your right Project Manger will copy the complete sequence data in one place.

If you don't want to use Project Manger than you need to Mark In & Out points in each of the sequences for which you don't need the video preview files.

Than go to the top menu > Sequences > Select "Delete Render Files In & Out" for each of the sequences you have marked the In & Out points. Or Incase you want to delete the All the video Preview files than select "Delete Render Files" from the same menu.

Use Premiere Pro..Project Manger.

Go to menu > File > Project Manager > In the options box check the Final Sequence and uncheck all other Sequences.. On the right hand side select to include the video previews and select the destination to save. It will have data only of the Final Sequence.

Than you can delete all the video previews of project from previous folder wherever your project was saved.
