Frame-Blending Vs Optical Flow

Hello Everyone.

I was shooting with Canon 5D Mark4. 1920 *1080 59.94 fps and I had my shutter Speed set at 125 because there is no Shuter Speed of 120 In video mode. Inside Premiere I Right-Clicked on my footage- Modify- Interpret Footage, and I checked Assume this frame rate: 23.976. I was not happy with my shot. I saw this video about Optical Flow, and Frame Blending.

Which one you recommend for Slow Motion Shots.

Note: If I shoot with my Sony PXW-Z150 Camcorder, since you can choose 60fps, or 120fps, I dont have any problem.

This footage Issue is happening when I shoot 60fps, with my Canon 5D Mark4

Thank you very much.

Dear Ms. Ann. Lets say, I have a 60 Minutes Video, and 40 Minutes of the Video was shot on 23.976 fps, and 20 minutes of the Video was shot on 59.94 fps, and I decide to use Optical Flow for my 20 minutes of Slow Motion Clips,When Rendering the final Project how do I manage that. Thank you very much.

Trial and error. Never had a 20 minute of SM clips.

Deleted my post, because as I posted this, I see that a nearly identical post was made above.

Optical flow will absolutely give you the best slow motion - *if it works on your particular shot(s)*.

Some shots work better than others. Shots with simple framing and high contrast will usually be good. Shots with complex elements like water, foliage for example - may not be so good.

As Neil suggests try both - but always try Optical Flow first and then switch to blending if optical looks bad.

Dear. Steve. I will try that. Thanks.

For many things you really need to test both and see which works best. So do short bits in a sequence of the same clips, done each way.

Export the short test sequence and watch the quality.
