Suddenly today when I duplicate a picture, add a Legacy Title or add new video segments to the timeline, the entire program freezes and I have to use the Task Manager to shut it down and restart.
This has my project stopped entirely in it's track adn I'd appreciate any help I can get - thanks!!!

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot the properties of your media in tree view:

If the file is variable frame rate, which although Adobe says it will support, many users are having issues with VFR.

Use Hand brake to convert to constant frame rate:

Thank you, Peru Bob.

I have been using these files all day today so I don't believe the issue is file-specific.

In fact, I can add small pictures without a freeze but even if I select the microphone to do a voice-over audio recording it will allow me to begin recording but when I turn the mic off to complete, it freezes.

Here's the thing,  vfr media causes INTERMITTENT  problems.  Just because you haven't seen them before doesn't mean it's not causing them now.  A cursory review of the last 10 days of posts here will show many examples of problems caused by vfr sources.    If you're only using the audio, I'd suggest transcoding to an audio only format better suited to Premiere, like 48k 16 bit aiff...

Hi Matt,

Can you give us details of your system and media (frame dimensions, codec). Also, your Sequence Settings. Does this happen with a new project or just this one?

BTW, you will want to start phasing out use of Legacy Titler. When a tool or effect is titled "Legacy" or "Obsolete" that is your warning sign that this "thing" will soon disappear. Try using the newer text tools moving forward. Issues may lurk in Legacy tools that are no longer being tested or developed so that's another pointer I can give.

What I'm getting at: Try editing without Legacy Title and see if you have the same problems.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for the quick response, first of all! Thanks for the tip about Legacy, too - no problem!
