The Grid effect, along with several other legacy effects, has been removed from the latest version of Premiere Pro (24.6) as part of ongoing updates.
You can find more details and alternatives in this help article that explains which effects were removed and what you can use instead.

Oh, all the tortured resplies here, "WHY", "Really bummed", "Adobe stock is down", "Disingenuous", "paid to reply", "unbelievable", etc.
I've asked here for posters to look at the prior answers and also read the Adobe notification of Obsolete Effects removal.
The answer is in the above: "Projects that were made in previous version of Premiere Pro that contain obsolete effects can still be opened."
With that info, on September 20th, I posted here a screenshot from the Beta version, with a grid effect clearly in the shot: Beta with Grid Effect
Nobody noticed I guess. I'll give credit to Adobe, the've saved the day from the beginning. Despite all the tortured pleas...
You can simply open say PP 24.1 where the obsolete effects were still there, create a project with a grid effect (or any obsolete effect) and per Adobe's notice, the effects still work from 'old' projects going forward. Duh... Save a preset in 25x and you are good to go, for who knows how long! 🙂
So, get your grids back. I'm posting because someone here said they needed it for an old tv effect and not to align text which is way, way better using a guide, but to each their own.
Now enjoy and go get your grid. 🙂

Joining the call for Grids! For me, I use them to straighten slightly less than level shots, and sometimes to check on composition when changing size of shots, golden third, etc. It won't work for everyone, but for lining up shots, I have a simple workaround.... Type a repeated hyphen across the screen.... there's at least one straight line reference.

For Heaven's sake, use the information in this thread! DON'T type hyphens ... set guidelines which are quick & easy and you can save them as presets for reuse.
Nearly the same functionality as the old effect. Check up above, MyerPj has the details.

This was kind of a test thread, to see if people bother reading the comments. I guess not.

I am reading this thread and vote for restoring Grids!. Just had to open a project in 2024 in order to fix a border I used with Grids. Great way to make borders and, as others have pointed out, to line things up/justify.
Also, did they really have to remove Generate/Circle? Such a basic effect, easy way to make a Spotlight or Vignette. Yes, there are other ways to do all of these things in non-linear editing. But Circle, which is so basic and versatile, seems like an odd thing to remove

Have you even tried Guidelines?
Another question, as someone who lost a couple things I liked. But what part of "fewer than 1% of the users used anything in the Obsolete bin" is confusing? That's why they went away.
Virtually no one using them but someone here & there. Ancient code, would have needed a complete rebuild. For something not hardly used across the base. I may not like the deletions, but I understand them.

I only saw the responses earlier without seeing the opening comments. I re-opened the old project in PP2025 and there was Grid. Good to know as well as the alternatives in the help article.
