Question

Getting UI Lag because of; 'Audio Clip Mixer', 'Audio Track Mixer', 'Effect Control'

Hi!

I have been getting lag from the 'Audio Clip Mixer', 'Audio Track Mixer', and 'Effect Control'. This has been happening for over 3 years and it just seems to be getting worse.

Note: The actual playback of the video is unaffected. It is only Premiere Pro UI which is affected.

These are slowing down my UI in Premiere Pro.

Audio Clip Mixer
Audio Track Mixer
Effect Controls

I have been doing some testing on BRAW 4k DCI footage, on BRAW 6K footage, on HD 422 and 4K 422, and this always happens:

If Effects Control is open anywhere, Medium amount of lag or the UI completely freezes ❌

If either the Audio Clip Mixer or Audio Track Mixer are open on the second monitor together. A small amount of lag ❌

Though it gets a lot worse with the BRAW 6k Footage.

Things I have tried:

  • Turned my PC off and on

  • Everything is up to date

  • I have tried reinstalling Premiere Pro multiple times

  • Reinstalling Windows

  • Tuning off and on, max bit depth and render quality.

  • Deleted the Media Cache

  • Resetting the preferences

  • Resetting the workspaces

  • I am using Studio Driver

  • Turned the audio input settings to none

This has happened across multiple versions of Premiere Pro (2021 - 2024) and multiple versions of Windows (10 & 11).

Computer Specs:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X 16-Core Processor,

64GB (3200) RAM

3 x 4k Monitors (Premiere Pro is open on 2)

Clips:

Editing on an SSD (7000 write/read speed)
Audio and video preview on a separate SSD

Hi @Arthur5FBC,

Sorry for the performance issues. Have you tried a test on any other computer or just this one? Is this only with BMD media? Have you tried transcoding the media or creating proxies? BRAW is not a supported format natively and requires plug-ins. Which ones are you using? Have you tried alternate BMD plug-ins? Give them a go and let us know what happens.

Thanks,
Kevin

It just happened on this computer. This has happened over the last 2/3 years over windows 10 and 11 and multiple pro versions.

It happens no matter what the codec is, I have tested it with ProsRes, BMD, Proxies it always happen no matter the media

I see playback issues when a clip is selected in the ECP. If its empty no playback issue.

And yes this has been going on for a few versions now and with all kind of media.
