H264 FRAME RATE 48.86?

I have some videos that were output from a GV Edius system in H264.  They play in VLC, WMV, Quicktime totally fine.. and all show frame rate of 59.94 at 1080i

Import the clips into Premiere and they show a rate of 48.86.. the audio sync is off, the video speeds up and slows down.   

Any suggestions?

Still no answers as to why this does not work in Premiere Pro 19 or 20?  Don't want to have to roll back my version... or have a colleague convert using Premiere Pro 17?

I had a friend load the clips into Premiere 2017... and the clips worked fine

Use Media Encoder to convert the file then reimport it again to Premier pro

Media encoder converted, but audio was out of sync... and not at the correct speed
