Hey Michael,
Sorry for the poor experience. Can you share your complete system specifications (OS, GPU, RAM)? Are you having this issue with Sony A1 footage exclusively? Please share a screenshot of your video properties (Bin > Right click on video> Properties). Let us know. We’re here to help.
Thanks,
Ishan

Nope. Adobe cannot do anything at all about this issue because Nvidia does not support hardware encoding for 4:2:2 content at all (hardware issue is the culprit). Only 4:2:0 or 4:4:4.

Actually, the Threadripper Pro does not have integrated graphics at all, and therefore does not have hardware decoding or encoding at all. Therefore, it comes down to the exact discrete GPU that your system has. Unfortunately, Premiere Pro does not currently support 10-bit 4:2:2 HEVC hardware decoding acceleration at all with a discrete GPU. Only 4:2:0 support. And currently, only the integrated graphics of an 11th- or 12th-Gen Intel CPU has 10-bit 4:2:2 HEVC hardware decoding acceleration support in Premiere Pro.
Therefore, you're permanently stuck with software-only decoding with all 4:2:2 material.
