Hating the latest start-up flow 😒

i truly hate the way premiere forces you to start up a session now. i simply want for a blank editing view window to open immediately upon start-up. it really kills my momentum to HAVE to click around & select a folder in Adobe's interface, HAVE to decide & type out a name, being prompted to find the files, etc. NO! it is way too slow & there's no way to opt out of this!! ...as far as i've found at least. Adobe, can you build in the option to turn this off?

Adobe is making things easier for new content creators, less intimadting for them and similar to apps they are used to on their phones. However, like Ann mentioned, the workflow we are used to is still existent

Especially after hearing from some TV and corporate types who use it, I did some testing. The sort of project setup they had explained. And ... once you understand how the right-side options actually work, it's wicked fast if you only need a smallish number of assets in a "flat file" sort of structure.

So I can see why some folks love it. If you've got two hours to make three length versions of seven different 'stories' for b-cast, this is actually pretty slick.

Now ... that's never what I have to do, so ... for my 'normal' array of work, it's just not gonna get used.

Ann's right, and I think most editors don't use the new Import page for importing. No reason to if you don't need to.

First, UNCHECK or unstar/unfavorite anything in the middle "media" section and the upper right "options" section, nothing starred or bright blue. This is sticky, so done once, fuhgedaboudit. Then when you start a new project ...

Type Name.

Set Location.

Then mouse to click "Create".

Done. The project panel opens.

Now, we've asked for the ability to TAB to the Create button ... or a keyboard shortcut ... maybe some day.

And yes, there are serious users that find the new "quick project start" process/page wonderful. TV newsrooms, major corporate in-house video departments, others ... I've talked with some heavy editors that find this a huge boost for their workflows.

Not something I'll probably ever use though.

appreciate the feedback, R.! like you, im not in the demographic that prefers or benefited from this new workflow. for me, quick start straight to the editing window was important for my momentum. i'd rather do the naming & location choosing a little later. and with there not being a shortcut to bypass this yet, now i resent it lol thanks for ur insight
