Help Mixing Audio Files

Hi Adobe Community! I need help with getting some usable audio out of two audio files for a client project. The project is a social media video ad campaign featuring interviews from employees. I shot the video and have 2 audio files: the audio captured from my Rode shotgun mic mounted on the camera and then audio from a Lav mic recorded into my iPhone. The facility we shot at was very noisy and the Rode mic picked up tons of background noise, but the quailty is clear and better sounding than the Lav mic, which, for some reason sounds muted/fuzzy and has lots of "white noise" in the background. However, the Lav mic does a good job of only capturing the talent's voice. Is there something I can do to blend these two audio files and get the best of both? I'm not proficient in working with audio and my plan was to just use the Lav file, but I don't think it's clear enough. 😞 Please help, lol!

on set sound mixers will record what's called " room tone " for around 30 secs.... both on sound stages and on locations.... for the sole purpose of using that to negate the noise later if it's a problem.

Have you ever tried to mix them both directly in the Premiere Pro timeline. I myself already did something like that to achieve a better audio quality with tow distincts sources. The trick is to drag them to the timeline and use the Syncronize command to sync them. You can then use the Track Mixer to make some adjustment the to volumes of the trakcs and see how they work together. Since now we have the Essential Sound panel right inside Premiere Pro, I'd use it to clean the audio files defining its type (Dialogue, Music, SFX, etc) and activating the Reduce Noise option. We do not need to be audio experts to achieve really great results with that approach. If you feel you need better control over the noise reduction you can always right click in the audio file directly in the Timeline and select the Edit Clip in Adobe Audition option which you open the audio in Audition where you can go further and clean the audio like a pro using all its tools and filter options for nosie reduction. Give it a try and tell me if it helps you somehow.
