HELP! Premiere is exporting my proxies instead of the source file

I need to use proxies to be able to edit 4k footage. I just updated Premiere to the latest version (23.3.1 (build 2)) and now when I did a test export it is obviously the proxy file in 1024x540 with noticeably less quality. My work flow was to import the footage to my harddrive, then access that folder in premiere, right click, create Pro Res low quality proxies. Then I took the first proxy file, interpretted the footage from 60 to 24 (23.98) and dropped it into a 1920x1080 sequence.

Please help me resolve this. If it's not one thing, it's another with premiere. I dread making videos specifically because of the editing process.

Under General in the Export tab you will find a setting for Proxies used on export: uncheck

I got excited for a second, but it was already unchecked.

Ah I misread your post. Now I see, If You used the proxies in the timeline, that is not the way to go.

You attach proxies to the original files in the project window and toggle between them with proxy button in the Program monitor.

As of now, you will have to replace all proxy files on the timeline with the original to get it exported with the original files.
