Question

How can I make BluRay Menus now without Encore?

I am trying to upgrade from Premiere CS 5.5 to Premiere CC, but can not find any way to make menus for discs. I was told by customer service that I could make menus in Premiere before burning with Encoder, but I started a trial and can not see anyway to make menus anywhere. Has Adobe completely given up on this?

With your Premiere CC subscription, that will also allow you to install older versions, so from the Adobe installer app, you can download Premiere CS6 and Encore CS6 also gets installed at the same time. Does not bother the Premiere CC installation, will co-exist with CS6.

Install Encore CS6 and keep using as you had before.

Oops, just noticed you are using a TRIAL version, will not have access to CS6. But if you subscribe to CC, then you can access CS6.

Thanks

Jeff

Wow some customer service....

First of all you cannot make menu's in Premiere Pro period. You make menu's in either Encore or Photoshop

Second you cannot make dvd/bluray disk when on a trial. You have no access to Encore authoring tool as it does not come in trial version. Need a subscription.

On a side not: you cannot make dvd/bluray disks with Premiere Elements on a mac anymore. For windows only thing left is DVD.

O.k, i was not aware of that but did some reading about it now.

Seems very odd to drop Blu-ray authoring and keep DVD authoring in Pr Elements. What kind of software development is that? If they dropped DVD it would have made some sense.

All menues can be created in Photoshop, iow without Encore.

But if your question is "Can i make a Blu-ray disc without using Encore?" the answer is no unless you use Premiere Elements or another non-Adobe app such as Magix DVD Architect, TMPGEnc Authoring Works 6 - The Ultimate DVD / Blu-ray / AVCHD Authoring Tool - Pegasys Inc. There are more apps out there as well.

Maybe I should have  worded that differently. I meant is there a way to create a disc with menus and being able to link them to timelines, special features, etc.

Thank you for the program recommendations.

Has Adobe completely given up on this?

Yes.

I like the following.

Blu-Disc Studio → Professional Blu-ray authoring software

Your "help" person ... didn't. Encore is the only app from the Adobe stables to author a DVD/BluRay disc from. So you have to do all the authoring work in Encore ... still.

Or, use another company's app. Several have been mentioned here.
