Question

How do I Access Adobe Story CC (Classic)? Where is the previous version?

Dear Story users,

Adobe Story CC was recently updated to use the latest HTML5 technology that is supported by most modern browsers and devices. This has a new redesigned user interface.

All existing customers using the previous version of Adobe Story CC that used Flex technology should be automatically redirected to their existing Classic (Flex) version storyclassic.adobe.com when they login to story.adobe.com. All data and functionality will remain the same.

In case you are getting the new Adobe Story CC (HTML5) version, try the following to get back to the Classic (Flex) version:

1.      Log off and Log in to story.adobe.com

2.      Directly access Classic (Flex) app through https://storyclassic.adobe.com

We will be sending out more information as the Adobe Story CC (HTML5) release becomes available to try for existing Adobe Story CC (Classic) customers.

Thanks,

Teja Vepakomma

Agreed with the sentiments that the new Story product is quite honestly awful compared to the old version. The new one lacks features, organisation tools, and the UI is inferior. It looks like a tablet app.

I still have the old one installed on my computer. Will it remain available? Or will I have to switch to Trelby or Final Draft or Celtx...

Thank you for this link. The new version is putrid. Adobe DO NOT REMOVE ACCESS TO CLASSIC.

It seems like Adobe is basically making a new product called Story which has a few of the features of Story Classic, but they are not actually interested in upgrading Story Classic.

They have been almost entirely unresponsive to any of the user requests or forum questions even about features vanishing.  I'm not sure what their game plan is.  What if Photoshop CC 2017 lost the ability to use text and a marquis tool?  That would be ridiculous, and that's what Story CC 2017 is, a major crippling of the previous software.

Please re-think removing access to  classic story at this point in time. While there are things I enjoy in the new version, I am still finding things I need..that are only in classic currently. This week i found 2 big ones.

Category management. can't find a way to move projects between categories. I have categories for In progress, concept, completed etc. And I move projects around in classic as the project progresses.

Non-script documents. Just started a new project, and wanted to work on some outlines for it. I couldn't create a new, non-script document like we can in classic... then it dawned on me... all my imported projects only had scripts. If you remove access to classic, I will lose access to my documents.

Thanks for taking time to read this.

Does anyone know why Adobe is moving away from Story Classic.  The script choices are for TV/Film drama.  I used story because of the broad selection of script formats.  I'm not sure there are that many TV/Film writers to support the new version.  All the video production I work with runs from :30 sec. To 5 min.  I am producing content for businesses not sitcoms for TV networks.  If they update the new version to have the same features as classic, Adobe will be spot on.  The new version seams like a step backward.

Hi Teja,

Would like to know if Adobe is pulling the plug on the Adobe Story Classic or both Classic and CC are going to be accessible simultaneously.

Personally,I find Adobe going back to the dinosaurs if Classic is being killed. Its indeed is a classic app which is working really working wonders for people. Why kill it???

I agree that something should be done to have Adobe Story CC (Classic) actually work for users. I have had to contact technical support 4-5 times in the past few months because this continues to happen. It cuts into my work and productivity. The technical support team is always kind and willing to help, but the point is not to be forced to call technical support because you can't use a product/service. The service should be functional most of the time and not give so many problems. I urge those in charge of Adobe Story CC (Classic) to really consider a long term solution for this. I really value Adobe and everything it offers, but it gets frustrating when you are ready to work and the instrument you use to do your work just refuses to function. Thank you.

I feel the same! I am new to adobe story and I really like the program but the lag slowly grew so terrible over a few days that I couldn't work with it. (Type a sentence count to 5 and it appears...called service, changed browsers and no change) I have been using the new version for the last week and nearly ended my plan today until I found a link to the desktop classic version in a reddit forum. Are you using the desktop version still Jgarc189? If so, have you seen any problems with continuing to use that instead of the new version?

Really hope Adobe realizes the new version is just terrible and not currently not usable - lacking all kinds of essential functions, and the UI is horrible. What's going on? And how long will the Classic version be available?

Rumored until next month (June)

Please note that the old Classic version of Adobe Story is still available and will continue to be available until we add more features to HTML5. Please use this link to access the classic version: https://storyclassic.adobe.com as we have removed the auto-redirection to classic. Ensure the flash plugin is enabled in the browsers: Enable Flash Player for Google Chrome

If you are looking for missing features (including offline version) or missing projects, using the story classic link above is your best bet. We are releasing updates to the new HTML5 version every month since Jan 2017. Details of these releases available here: New features summary for the 2017 release of Adobe Story CC

It is important to understand that while Story Classic is still available for paid subscribers, Story Free will be ending as announced here: New Framework for Adobe Story CC | Creative Cloud blog by Adobe
