I've had to start exporting After Effects animations as dynamic linking really makes my projects lag (I edit half an hour long documentary style videos including advanced After Effects animations). When I only have 5 minutes worth of work in there I can just import from AE quite easily, but once it's at half an hour and I have 10 advanced animations scattered throughout the project, it gets very slow, even when I've rendered everything. Sometimes the AE animations will just show wup as black screens. Is there an even better alternative to rendering files to make them work super smoothly? Even when they render properly, when I watch the whole video back the entire thing is super jittery and impossible to watch.

Hi Robbie34135385e7mh,
Playback performance can depend on multiple factors like the complexity of the Ae comps & the system specs. Would mind sharing more about the type of media, effects used in the comp & your system specs. It will help us diagnose the issue properly.
Thanks,
Sumeet

Every major version upgrade of the video apps ... Premiere, Ae, Audition, and also Resolve ... will place more demands on the hardware being used. So something that may have worked on your kit in the last version may be not as spiffy in the new series of builds.
That might be at least part of the issue. Maybe ... but as you didn't post specs, that's just a wild guess.
Personally, I always export a clip from Ae to replace any comp as normal procedure simply as it makes everything simpler later in the project. Everyone works differently, of course. Everyone.
