How to correctly fade semi opaque images as overlay graphics?

Community Beginner ,

I often need to add a semi transparent PNG or PSD as a logo over a whole video in Premiere.

Whenever there is a fade or dip to full black with another video running beneath the logo, the logo shifts in opacity.

The only way I have found to resolve this is to add a layer of solid black on V1 throughout my sequence.

Is this known behaviour? Is it expected behaviour?

I always add a layer of black on V1, I set the length of black and the workarea bar to the total length of the video, it helps to keep things in sync if you are exporting audio and video separately.

With regards to your issue turning off 'composite in linear colour' in the sequence settings might help.
