How to export 50fps interlaced -- MXF OP1a with DNXHD wrapper

Hopefully this one is easy to figure out for you guys.

I need to export an MXF (preferably wrapped as XDCAM) and it also has to be 50fps interlaced (this is for delivery to a European broadcaster).  However, the only frame rate options I get are 25fps progressive or 25 fps interlaced. Even the XDCAM HD 50 PAL 50i preset only gives the option of 25 frames per second. My only option seems to be exporting at 25p and having the broadcaster transcode to 50i on their end.

I know that 25p can convert to 50i but the broadcaster would obviously prefer to skip that step. So, how do I export an MXF at 50fps interlaced?

Thanks in advance.

MXF at 50fps interlaced

does not excist.

European broadcast is 25 frames interlaced, which means 50 half frames also known as 50i.

In the export settings you choose 25 frames per second / upper field, which will give you interlaced footage.

The 50 in the preset refers to the Bit rate - i.e. 50 Mbps

You might also see 1080i50 which means 1920x1080 interlaced at a framerate of 25.

Perhaps I could be so bold as to ask on this topic :

I am delivering a programme which has been shot entirely in 1080p/25.

Usually I export to MXFOP1a 50i from a 25p timeline for delivery.

Should I be dropping the final programme into a 50i timeline before I export?
