Question

How to export a video fast?

Hi,

Here are my export settings::

My questions:

1. How to reduce the export time? My 28 Mins video in 4K took 2 hours to export.
2. Should I change the export quality to  HEVC from the recommended H 264?
3. Is there any way where I can keep the 4K quality (Clarity and colors in the video) but export or publish in 1080? I am editing the video in 4K. Should I edit it in 1080K and then export in 4K? Please guide.

Thank you.

You could do it now, or wait. So, the key is rendering while you go (for the most part). You would then export to ProRes LT for example. So, make sure of your sequence settings, and export in the same format as your preview files. Then you can make h.264 from that main export file.

If you want to do it for this project, just go to the Sequence menu and Render In to Out, with no in or out points set. It will probably take 2 hours as before, but then when you want to export, it will take seconds. If you make a change in the squence, just re-render that bit.

I agree with PB. Especially with his #1 answer, Smart Rendering is fantastic, and the FAQ from Kevin is clear and easy to follow. You wont be sorry to put some effort into that.

2)  No.

3)  Edit in 4K.  If you edit in 4K and export in 1080, you will lose quality.  If you edit in 1080 and export in 4k, it will look terrible.

Is this method applicable for 4K footage? Or I need to do it in 1080? I feel this process needs to be done before editing. Right now, my current video is complete with editing, can I still do this process or from next video onwards I need to do it before editing?

Thanks.
