How to extend a shot?

Evenin' all.

I shot some footage (camera was static, on a tripod) and have discovered that I didn't shoot a long enough cut and I'm just trying to work out how to extend the shot. If it wasn't for the fact that I wanted to have a slow zoom (to be added in Premiere) then I'd just duplicated the relevant frames on the timeline (there's nothing moving in the shot, it's basically an inanimate object so duplicating the frames wouldn't be an issue).

How would be best to extend the shot so that I can also add a slow zoom too?

Extend your shot, nest the clips and add the zoom to the nest.

Legend

If nothing moves, use the Rate Stretch tool to extend the clip out.

Hi Richard,

I'm assuming that this is similar to grouping a bunch of clips so that they, essentially, become one clip that can adopt an effect?

Yes, when you nest a new sequence is created containing all the clips, effects and keyframes can then be added to the whole lot. Grouping in Premiere is slightly different.

I shall give this a whirl now and see how I get on...sounds simple enough but I didn't know how to do it. I'll do a search for a tutorial and go from there!
