Question

How to make a disabled clip invisible when played (instead of turning it into a black image)

Hello everybody,

I have a question concerning disabling clips. I wanna use this tool to decide whether I should leave a specific scene in my film or not and I thought that by enabling and disabling this certain clip in the timeline I could just see which version I like more (with or without the clip). Instead of just skipping the clip and showing the precedent and following clip without a transition (which I hoped disabling would do) Premiere Pro substitutes it with a black image at the lenght of the disabled clip. Is there a way to kind of remove a clip and add it again without actually always having to remove and add it in the timeline?

I hope I made clear what the problem is. Thanks for your help!

Move the clip up a few tracks and disable track view (poke the eye).

If you disable a clip in the timeline Premiere does not substitute it for a black clip it just makes it invisible.

I am guessing you are looking at the background which shows as black.
