How to make subclips when the original footage is in pieces?

My drone splits videos at some point.  I guess roughly 3.5GB.  I like making subclips; especially of drone footage.  I generally just hit record before I lift off and don't hit stop until I land again.  Then I make subclips of the interesting pieces.  But if the original footage is in pieces, what is the normal practice to make subclips?

I thought I could make a sequence and then pull subclips from the sequence but Premiere doesn't allow me to do that.

Here’s a method you can try:

  1. Drag all your clips into a new sequence to stitch them together.
  2. Load the sequence into the Source Monitor.
  3. Set in/out points for the segments you want to keep in the Source Monitor.
  4. Select Sequence > Make Subsequence (Shift + U) to create subsequences from those segments.

You make subclips from your so-called pieces (clips) just like you would from a long clip.
