How-To: Move logo from behind mask without mask moving

I'm trying to create a rectangular mask that will hide the logo, which has motion keyframes in order to move down into view from behind the mask. But everytime I try to play the animation, the mask moves with the logo.
The sequence of events as shown in the screenshots is as follows:
1) Move Logo to start position (where I want it hidden by mask) and create motion keyframe
2) Move Logo to end position (where I want it revealed) and create motion keyframe
3) Add Ease in to keyframes to smooth the motion

4) Create rectangular mask
5) Mask appears over text at the 'reveal' position

6) Move playhead to start of motion

7) Logo moves back to start position, but mask moves with it.

There's bound to be something obvious I'm missing, or a box I've forgotten to check or something. Can anyone give some advice please?

Btw I'm using Pr 2023 v23.6.9 (build 4)

Seems to me this hasn't always been the case. Recent updates they removed essential graphics panel.

On After Effects it is SO EASY to achive this mask reveal effect. Adobe NEEDS to stop fixing what isn't broken and make features that are on all of their cloud work the same in each app. I feel your pain. If you have figured out how to do it I hope you can share or PM me. Thanks!

Starting with Premiere Pro version 25.0, the Essential Graphics panel has been replaced by the Properties panel, which offers the exact same functionality.

The Properties panel is context-aware, meaning it displays relevant controls based on your current selection. When you select a graphic or text item, it shows the tools previously available in the Essential Graphics panel.

To access the Properties panel, go to Window > Properties in the top menu.

For more information, you can check Adobe's official documentation on the Properties panel:

You can achieve this effect using the Track Matte Key effect or by adding the image to a graphic and then applying a Shape Mask.

For the Track Matte Key method, follow this guide: Add Track Matte Key

If you'd prefer to use a Shape Mask, check out this resource: Mask with Shapes using the Properties Panel

That's not quite what I'm trying to do. I don't have 3 layers, or alpha channels. I just have one background layer and text I want to be revealed. This tutorial shows the type of masking effect I'm trying to do: I want the mask to hide the Logo/Text, which has been keyframes to move down from behind the mask and be revealed.

Try this:

V1 clip

V2 text with keyframes

V2 same clip with inverted mask over the area you want to show the text.
