How to turn off highlighted timeline objects

Hi - I could have sworn I posted this before here and looked at my history and couldn't find anything.

I have a timeline with mutiple nested files on various layers, images, and so on. I must have hit a button wrong because now when I drag the play head in timeline, every time it appears over a clip or something it highlights that clip on the timeline. I closed this file and made a quick test project, put stuff on timeline, and it it doesn't do it there, so it looks like I hit a button accidentially in the first project because it keeps doing it and I don't know how to stop it.

Can someone tell me how to turn this off and actually what is the function when it's doing that?

That's called "Selection follows playhead" ... and they've moved it around. Search for it in the help. Then when you find it, deselect it.
