Question

How, what keyboard shortcut to slice very short piece off a sequence?

Hi,

I move the playhead, but it sets too much for the trim. I need to make a precision cut. What keyboard shortcut command on a PC to achieve such a fine cut off the end of a sequence? Need to shave off incrementally.

Thank you.

You can move the CTI or playhead by the left/right arrow keys, one frame at a time. There's also "top & tail" editing, where using the Q key cuts everything off of that clip to the left (earlier on the timeline) and W cuts everything after that frame of that clip, and auto-moves the rest of the timeline in to fill the gap.

Does that help?

Interesting. That seems to be my issue. The left/right arrow key that you say move one frame is too much. I need even less than a frame. For annunciated syllable spoken on the audio. That tight of a cut. Hmmm.

Other, is there a way to segment a very short snippet of the audio and lower the volume or drag out the duration of a sound (elongate it)? (Camtasia has such options)... Premiere does not seem to allow for points to be added to the audio to raise and lower volume in specific places in the audio snippet.

Thank you.

You cannot cut video any smaller than 1 frame.

Audio you can cut to 1/48000 of a second (set timeline to audio units).

You can add keyframes either in the ECP or on the timeline to adjust the volume.

Make sure you are in Show clip keyframes and not Show track keyframes.
