i'm still having problems with premiere not showing me certain audio waveforms

i'm still having problems with premiere not showing me certain audio waveforms. its like it chooses to show me some and not others on the timeline for interviews. and when i highlight the clip in the bin or timeline and choose "generate audio waveforms" from the clip drop down menu, nothing happens.  i am in a team premiere project and i have "generate waveforms automatically during import" checkmarked under preferences. it must be a bug because when I use Command ] to zoom in really close i can see waveforms but the minute i zoom back out they're completely gone. (no its not that theyre too small to see zoomed out. its a bug) Premiere 23.5.0 (build 56). Mac OS ventura 13.4.1

tried most of the workarounds in this feed and im still having the issue

"Command ] to zoom in really close i can see waveforms".

Ok, that is good info and means it is specifically the peak file system, which is part of the Media Cache.  Where is your Media cache system located. It needs to be on a fast, local drive (like an internal drive or an attached SSD drive) and not on a shared network drive.  If it is not then the needed files might not load fast enough.
Once you resolve any issues with the location of the Media Cache, you will want to reset it.  That can be done by holding shift on launch of Premiere and selecting the Clear Media Cache option.

i believe when I wrote this post, the footage was coming from here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097C7L5QF/?coliid=ICRP1E00RORW0&colid=24N69S8AWSEQ2&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_.... I believe this device was fast enough. And I purged the cache and that didnt fix it.

You're preferences look fine, could you get on a zoom call with me some time so I can see if I can find out what the issue is?

I'm not opposed to zooming with you, but it would have to be on a day where I could reproduce the issue. The issue I reported in this post was a project where I was sent to a different state (from where I live) to work on a 2 week project for a television show. After the 2 week edit period, I flew back home. I'm not in possession of that big Graid that I described. Whatever I'm editing right now doesnt have the problem but trust me, it'll surface on another project at some point. Perhaps you could send me your email address and contact info. And the next time this happens, I can email you and say hey are you able to zoom for a few minutes?

can you please post an outcome? Waveforms in this version of premiere are extremely buggy. I have to restart premiere over and over, ditch the cache, its takes an age to re-create the peak files and cache, I get to use it for an hour, then repeat.

@getho Nothing came of this yet.  rachinc1 was unable to replicate again.

The simplest and most likely problem is that you are using an incorrect location for the media cache system, like a slow hard drive or a network location.  Can you verify (via a screen shot of the Media Cache preferences ) how you have your system set up.

i had it happen recently. it wasnt as bad of a situation as the one I originally reached out to you about (the giant graid situation in another state). this most recent occurence i had to quit premiere, restart the computer and wait for the program to regenerate the peak files after purging the cache. took a while too.
