import all stereo as dual mono Premiere Pro CC 2019

Apologies for a [perhaps] overly simplistic question. On a Mac, how do I create a preference for having all stereo audio imported as dual mono tracks? I saw a tutorial on YouTube that showed the option under Premiere Pro in the menu bar, pull down to the Audio tab and there was an option called Default Audio Tracks. One could select to have Stereo Media as Mono. That was a 2015 version of Premiere Pro.

In my 2019 version, I do not see a Default Audio Track option. Is there a way to have stereo always imported as dual mono tracks?

Default Audio Track option in under Timeline in the Preferences.

Set Stereo Media to Mono and you are good to go.

Need to do this before you import media into Premiere.

This is especially annoying when working with Plural Eyes. I import my XML sequence generated by Plural Eyes, but the dual mono sources are placed in the timeline as stereo tracks. My workaround: Go to the bing and Modify the audio of all the tracks so it's dual mono. Then, you create 2 empty audio tracks in your Plural eyes-generated sequences. And edit the mono audio clips back into the timeline directly beneath the stereo version. It's actually pretty fast because it's already synced. Just line up the beginning of the incoming clip with the existing clip that's already in the timeline.

A lot of the panels have menus on the little 3-bar icons. Including saving presets for even track heights and numbers of types of tracks.

Effects in the Effects Control Panel can be turned into presets by right-clicking "make preset".

You can even select several effects at a time in the ECP, right-click and make a preset including all selected effects.

Meg_the_Dog. How do you make a preset? You don't need to detail that in this go-around. I guess the thought could be considered off topic.

R_Neil. I haven't yet explored the possibility. As I say to Meg in the next line, I got too tired trying to figure everything out and will try again tomorrow.

You do not need a preset. Just leave it at mono and all project will import as mono.
