Hello,

I noticed that you can import guides into Premiere from View > Guide Templates > Manage Guides...

In the dialog box that open you can Import.  Is there a way to export your guides from Photoshop and import them into Premiere?

No you cannot but what is so special about the guides in Ps?

You can make your own guides.

Safe margins are also still available.

In Photoshop use can use the New Guide Layout tool to create custom grids with margins and gutters.  Its pretty cool.  It just seems like a missed opportunity for some "synergy"!

You can make them manually and save them as a template.

that's a really good question. I only use cs6 creative suite, so what I do is save something like 'guides' for 4:3 safety within a 16:9 frame, as a png with alpha ( so I can overlay that image of the guides in the timeline when needed ).

It's similar in a way to doing something like a BINOCULAR effect....where someone is looking through scope and you see ( as audience ) what it sorta looks like if you were them. That's a black and white mask and blur type thing with an alpha channel, but it's basically the same thing I do...It would be nice to know if new versions let you capture guides in psd and save them as a template for PPro.

oh, sorry, forgot the obvious that I do.... I draw lines onto the guides with snap turned on and create a 'drawing' of the guides... I just trace the guides so I can save that a a layer ...

shoulda said that before

Salvo34 thanks for replying.  I did some further investigating on my own.

1.  The Photoshop guide files are .gds and the Premiere are .guide files.

2.  When I opened the photoshop guide (.gds) in a text editor its just weird smybols.  When I open the Premiere guide files (.guides) in a text editor there is human readable text.

This leads me to believe these are different and incompatible files.  Would be cool if they where interchangable.

Anyway thanks for taking a look!
