Question

import srt files into premiere with no line breaks

I hope someone can help me with a challenge I have with srt files with long sentences. I receive many srt files from translators that I need to import in Premiere Pro as open captions. Often there are long sentences and they are not provided with line breaks. When I import the srt file the sentences continues outside the image. Is there a way to keep the subtitles within the video image automaticly?

Thanks!

Try http://www.aegisub.org/

In my earlier tests, I did not find the more robust automatic correction options, but it will make it easier than a text editor.

Thanks again! Aegisub indeed is the best free subtitle program, but untill now I have not found the right feature in Aegisub either. However, I have discovered how it can be solved with Word. So this has solved my challenge for now.

Kind regards,

Use Subtitle Edit or similar (free program) to prepare the files before import. I think it will apply such a change.

However, if the sentences are really too long for the timing allowed, you may have to divide them further.

Hello Stan,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, Subtitle Edit doesn't work on a Mac and we don't have any Windows computers here. I have not yet found a program on the Mac that can prepare the file this way ... so far the only option is to manually add all th linebreaks. But that is a lot of work, considering the amount of translations we receive.
