Imported video is always out of sync. But that's not all!

This problem appeared a couple of months ago. When I import video to Premiere pro, the audio and video are out of sync by varying amounts.

This has been happening consistantly for the past few months.

My workflow has not changed. My equipemnt has not changed.

Up until now, it was annoying, but manageable.

Now, I'm finding that the audio is out of sync by differnet margins for different clips.

e.g.

Import a single-cam, uninterupted interview. (3 clips; 25 min, 25 min and 10 min)

All three clips are approx 36 frames out of sync. So I un-link each video and sync manualy.

Now, this is where things get even stranger. If I save, close and reopen later, the number of frames by which the clips are out of sync has changed. The first clip might be 23 frames, the second clip might be 16 frames and the last might be 32, 7 or something else. Likewise, if I 'edit in Adobe Audition', save and return to Premiere, the clips will change the number of frames by which they are out of sync.

(Video plays fine in-camera and via standard media player)

What is going on!?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

How are you recording these videos? Are they in sync when you play them outside of Premiere?

Hi!

A1: I'm shooting on a Panasonic GH5s, recording AVCHD, 1080 mostly 50fps.

Audio recorded via RODE Wireless GOII in to GH5s 3.5mm jack.

A2: Yes, I mentioned in parenthesis above how the videos play in-sync via various media players. Strange!

Thanks

Additional: This applies to in-camera recordings also. Albeit inconsistantly. So we can rule out the RODE mics or/anything coming in via 3.5mm.

I've looked back and the issue first appeared in August.

Try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

Hi!

'System Default' is "no input".  I changed it manualy to 'no input' anyway. Have tested and sadly, no change.

Thanks

Are you waiting long enough after import to allow the audio to be conformed?

I've had that happen if I didn't allow it to conform fully.

So, by way of an update; this issue still remains. It is inconsistent and bizarre. 8 out of 10 projects, when imported are out of sync.

I started working on my laptop instead, and all seemed well (hooray! it's isolated to me desktop!... or so I thought.) Now I'm getting the same issue on my laptop.

I might pause work on a project, save, come back to it a day later, and find that the audio has shifted yet again. This is truly bizarre and infuriating.

I’ve been using adobe for decades, have soldiered through all kinds of glitches. But I’ve never come across this issue before.

Forgive me if posting this as a reply to my own post is poor community etiquette, but I'm not sure how to follow up.

I've got the same issue.  I teach media to high school students and it always seems like a 1/4 of my class has sync issues when importing .MTS files (AVCHD).  Our painful workaround is to use Quicktime to convert the footage resulting in .MOV.  When we import the .MOV's they import and play properly in-sync.  Why has Adobe not figured out how to read .MTS files properly after all these years...?
