Importing AAF from Avid causes crash

I need to import an AAF from Avid into Premiere. I have Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 Version 12.1.

I tried to import the AAF into the Premiere project, it crashed. (I tried this many, many times.)

I tried importing the AAF into a NEW Premiere project and Premiere crashed.

I re-exported the AAF from Avid following these instructions: Migrate Projects from Avid Media Composer to Adobe Premiere Pro | and Premiere crashed.

I searched this forum for the answer. One solution seems to be to re-install Adobe Premiere 2015. When I select other version under the Adobe Premiere tab, I do not have the 2015 option. Only 6, 7, 11, and 12. When I search "Premiere" using my finder tool, 2015 appears under Applications, but I cannot open it. I search in my applications folder and it is not there.

I need to import this AAF. Please help.

Try importing the AAF into Resolve & then exporting it?

Or simplify the AAF in Avid before exporting?
