Importing video causing change in color hue

I recorded some footage of a video game on my PC. On Windows Media Player the footage looks fine but when I import the footage to Premiere, the footage's hue and saturation changes dramatically to gradiations of reds and yellows. I'm not sure why this is happening.

There's the issue ... the monitor is not in the same color system as the Program monitor expects. Set the monitor back to Rec.709.

Does it make sense that only footage from this game would be affected by this issue? I've recorded footage from other games and haven't had this problem.

It would totally depend on the way the various apps both encoded the media and set the 'tags' for color space and such. So yes, it could vary by app.

But having your monitor in HDR while working standard dynamic range Rec.709 media in PrPro will not get you a correct image to view.

That looks like either a GPU driver issue or a color space mishap.

What's your GPU and the driver in use?

What color space is that supposed to be in?

The GPU is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080

and I'm pretty sure the color space for the project was Rec. 709. My monitor's color space is HDR.
