Question

In effects control keyframe don't snap to video frames time

Hello,

I have a strange problem with Premiere. When I'm working with effects (effects controls) when I move keyframe right or left by mouse, the keyframe can easy stands not exact on the frame time but somewhere in middle position. I know that sometimes it's good to have more precision and put keyframes not in discrete times but in the middle. But I don't want to use this feature always. On the picture you see that playhead is right from my time. But if I move slider to the next frame (+1/30 sec) then keyframe will be on the left of playhead. So how I'm working right now? If I want exact position of keyframe I move my playhead to the frame and then move by mouse keyframe there, and it snaps to playhead.

So where is a magic checkbox that I should click to make keyframes snap to time of frames position?

Here's a link to the User Voice system. It's the place to post Bug reports and enhancement requests. The Adobe staff regularly check this board. If you want to put in a comment about this (or look around to see if you can find a similar you can vote on). Post the link to the thread back to this post so we can link too it and upvote.

I don't know that it's a problem, but I am able to duplicate what you are seeing.

For me it's a problem cause this can result in a mess on timeline. For example I have several animated effects. And I move keyframes to make animation as I need. I look at my timeline and think that keyframes of different effects are standing at one time (exactly on the frame) and using previous and next keyframe arrows for navigation. But because they are not exact all on one position when I make some adjustments of effects I can create new keyframe very close to old keyframe and I can't see this difference without very-very close zoom in. This results in strange jumping of values and other mess.

Anyway I agree that have freedom to position keyframes where you want, it's a good option. But snapping to frame time is also a good option, and I wonder why I can't turn this on and off. Also in After Effects there is no such problem.

By any chance are you running Audio Time Units rather than timecode? A screenshot of your entire Premiere Pro could be useful. You can turn off Audio Time Units using the wrench icon on the program/source monitors using the Wrench icon on the lower right of those monitors.

Here is screenshoot of how effects timeline is looking in case when I don't pay attantion of positon of keyframes. You see that top keyframe is in the middle of frames.

Don't know the answer but here's a workaround:  you can copy the keyframe(s) and then go to a specific frame and paste and then delete the earlier keyframes.

Correct, this is also possible. It's very strange that only me complain about this problem. Becuase in every video edit software keyframe position on time of exact frame is a common thing. And intermediate positions are more complicated things. But here in Premiere it's vice versa. I don't remember what was 10 years ago with Premiere but I don't remember that I was busy by this problem before latest versions.
