Question

Including the shot name in an EDL

Hello!

I'm working on a project that I need to create a shot list for as well as keep track of the shot names while editing. I know you can add the shot name into the metadata under dynamic media, but is there any way to include this info in the edl/any other format out of premiere? I've been converting the edl into a csv in order to bring it into a spreadsheet, but I need to keep track of shot names as well.

I unfortunately can't rename the clips to be the shot names as each clip is being used in many places throughout the project.

Any advice would be great! Thank you!

Hi @Katelyn316897458ixh - If you are using an EDL the easiest way would be to utilize markers.  Page 122 in the Longform and Episodic workflow guide  can give you some ideas on how to accomplish this.

If you add the shot name using the Shot column, you can export an ALE file by going to File > Export > Avid Log Exchange. This is a text-based format and can be imported into spreadsheets.

I didn't realize ALE was an option, this was very helpful. Thank you!
