Insert / Overwrite not working

Participant ,

Hello,

I'm on the latest version of Premiere, on an M3 Macbook Pro. For some reason I'm unable to insert or overwrite clips into my sequences.

- Tracks are armed and toggled on.

- I have an IN and OUT point. (things work if I clear these, but then what's the point)

- I've clicked on RESET FIT CLIP DIALOG.

- Insert and Overwrite are GREYED OUT inside the CLIP menu.

- I've resetted preferences.

Nothing is working!

Thanks

Try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Post screenshot of the issue (Source monitor and timeline with header).

What is the clip menu?

I cannot reproduce your issue.

But then i never use the dropdown menus.

Try and use the insert and overwrite option from the source monitor: either use the icons or . and ,

Turn off source patching and turn it back on.

Make a new project and import this one; see if that will work.

OK this was a rookie mistake, but thought I'd share in case someone makes it as well. I was trying to insert clips AFTER double clicking  on them in the timeline (which is where I keep selects). It all works fine if I just press F to match frame them into the Source monitor. Hope this helps someone else

Double-clicking on a clip in the timeline will open the clip in the source monitor.

Selecting a clip in the timeline and hitting F as in Match Frame will open the source clip from the Project Window in the Source monitor.
