Inserting 'pauses' into a final video

Is it possible to insert predetermined, automatic 'pauses' or 'stops' into a video file?

I am creating an animated infographic (as a video file) that has certain graphs or images that I would like the user to be able to dwell on. I want the user to be able to study each of these for as long as they want. In other words to be able to determine the length of each pause by having the power to release the video to play again when ready.

Any advice appreciated!

Hi,

This is something that the video player will do; not a thing Premiere Pro can do.

Sounds more like a programming thing than a video editing feature: look for help in Apps like Dreamweaver or Animate.

What you can do in Premiere Pro, is to add markers which will be coded into the video file and can be read out by a programming environment in order to create the interaction you're after.

Alternatively, you may need to create separate edits/outputs for each segment you would like the viewer to pause upon.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for this answer. Yes, I suspected it might be the case, but you've saved me god knows how many hours of trial and error. Thanks again.
