Intel Rapid Storage questions

Hello,

I have Intel Rapid Storage on my edit PC with a RAID 0 setup for my video drive. Honestly, I don't remember how I set this up when I built the machine but everything has been working fine.

 

I just changed my anti virus software to Total AV and when I am trying to install it, it says I need to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage.

 

If I uninstall it will my RAID still work? Will I lose any of the video that is on the RAID drive?

Any thoughts?

 

This isn't my forte so I don't want to mess up the RAID drive. I have never had this happen with any other anti virus software.

 

I know this isn't a typical PP question but I thought one of you pros may know the answer.

I had an similar issue when I lost my raid and I could not recover anything. Back up to external storage before you do anything. I only use the Windows inbuilt virus software and I haven't caught Covid yet. 🙂

FWIW: I'd just stick to the Windows AV. It's less obtrusive than any of the other ones. I've not had a problem with it. Norton and McAfee are PIAs.

    If you uninstall that, I would expect the RAID to collapse. And I would tend to be critical of any anti-virus that wants you to uninstall a RAID unit to run.

     

    If that is a separate unit, you might be able to simply disconnect it, install the AV, then reconnect. I would NOT uninstall the RAID however.
