iPhone footage always overexposed

Hello all,

I've tried many of the so-called "solutions" to this issue but nothing ever seems to sort it out.

Whenever I import any iPhone footage into Premiere it immediately becomes really overexposed. I've tried changing the sequence settings to every other option but that doesn't seem to sort anything out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply, this doesn't seem to work either.

Basic Color Management 101. Which we all have to learn now.

Most iPhone video capture, unless you override the default, is recorded in HDR, in the HLG format.

For video editing, you have two choices: go HDR the whole way, which is still more complex and problematic than SDR. Or, convert/transform to Rec.709/SDR, then edit/export. Which is easier at this time.

And if you don't handle this correctly, what happens is ... what you're getting.

I've got plenty of posts on here detailing the steps for both processes.

Then please post your steps in Premiere, in detailed order.

We can sort out where you're going wrong then.

I just realized - my monitor is not capable to show HDR - so whatever solution I tired I failed. My laptop is HDR capable and I had no problems there 🙈 - so maybe that is your problem as well. I guess the only solution is to convert HDR to SDR upfront using premiere I guess.
