issues finding media after Importing an AAF with embedded media to Premiere Pro

Hello,

I am hoping someone can shed some light to my issue. I am not a pro at using premiere pro so apologize for my question.

I have an aaf w/ embedded media that came from avid media composer, but when I import my aaf, it has diffuculty finding the media. I get the "missing media for these clips:" message w/ all the embedded files. is there a way to link the media to my aaf sequence without having to manually import and overcut on my sequence?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Ev

Right-click the clips, and Locate. Typically you select the first clip in the list, find it, and Premiere can attach the rest.

Hi @R Neil Haugen , Thank you so much for your quick response. I have tried doing that but unfortunatedly, the media just wont link due to the media files having a different name as the metadata on the sequence. I have tried to randomly linking to what I think it should be the corresponding media file and then my entire sequence will only link to one media file, which will then make my sequence repetive (all shots in my sequence becomes replaced by just one file). I usually get cannot find media so I have been manually overcutting. when trying to locate the media this is the error msg I get. Screengrab attached. thank you so much for your help! Much appreciated.

That second message says the file doesn't have both video and audio like the original one?

yes which is weird. I got it to link b blindly selecting the media files which really doesn't match the file names. The media files I have doesn't match the clip name/file name or file path. I think the issue is it is looking for the original file path where the files lives in media composer but I don't have access to that server. I have a consolidated media aaf.  could that be the issue? I have attached another screengrab:) thank you again for your help!

Getting the right name in the AAF as it is in the folder is pretty necessary. Although you can sometime conform to reel names or whatnot, but that's easier in Resolve than Premiere.

And mxf files ... Premiere still seems to have issues with those at times.
