Hello, I want to italicize two words in a sentence but by selecting my two words and italics, the whole sentence is concerned. Any idea, please ?

What Ann suggests should work. Can you try creating some new titles to see if the problem persists?

It works on a text layer but not with subtitles created with the automatic text tool.

I didn't know I could edit the text like with a text layer. I used the script on the left and modified the text on the right. However, you have to double click on the text in the monitor to modify it as with a text layer (not in the script on the left). It works when it's well explained, not me, I can do it.

Thank you anyway.

Frédéric,

Yes, this is confusing!

Here is an option. There are many commands for captions/subtitles that are not assigned in the default keyboard.

Open the keyboard customization/Keyboard Shortcuts. Ctrl+Alt+K or Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts.

In the search box, type "caption." Look for "Edit selected caption text." In the default keyboard ("Adobe Premiere Pro Default") it is unassigned. Assign it the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+X.

You will work in the Timeline (Sequence) Panel, the Program Monitor, and the Essential Graphics Panel. To avoid confusion, close the Text Panel. Move the CTI (current time indicator) over the caption you want to edit. Type the shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+X). The caption text will be selected in the Program Monitor and in edit mode. Use the arrow/shift keys to select the words you want. Apply italics.

If this does not work, check to see if you already have a caption selected. Hit the Escape key to deselect that caption. Or click once on the caption you want to edit to select it. Then it should work.

Or just use double click; it should work to set the italics for individual words.
