Justify Text in Premier Pro

I'm working on an intro for a video series that has a text crawl. I'm having trouble finding how to actually justify the text though.

I found a post mentioning that the text had to be in a defined box but I can't seem to get it to work, even in a small text box.

How can I justify the text/make text in the right kind of box so that I can justify it?

At this point I would suggest going to the Help menu, online help, and watch a couple videos on creating text in the Essential Graphics panel.

There are the typical control icons for say left, center, or right justification in the EGP.

In the EGP, when you click/drag in the program monitor you create a specific size text box. If you just click then begin typing, there's no set "box", the text simply flows as you type. Hit enter, it breaks to a new line.

The box type text entry is what you would want.

This is not a helpful answer.

Not left, right, or center ALIGNMENT, but justify, which means make all the lines the same width.

I can't figure it out either. Justify is greyed out. What gives?

hi Neil! I'm having the same issue as the poster and I found this question. What do you mean by click and drag? Click on what? drag where? Because I tried to drag the Text tool but it won't let me. I can't find anything else to answer this question either on this forum or on youtube. when I open the Essential Graphics panel on my text it still won't let me justify. I don't understand how to create a "text in box" rather than a normal text with the text tool and I've also tried googling that but found nothing.

To simply create a text box, while the EGP is active, and you've tapped the T for text keyboard shortcut, click (and hold down) in the Program monitor, drag diagonally (typically setting the upper left/lower right corners), let up the click ... and you have a text box.

Now click in the box, and you can type characters.

To get away from text entry mode, you need to click on a panel neither the EGP nor Program monitor, and tap say the V (Select) key.

To change the size of the Text box, while you have the 'Select' key active, click the text box entry in the EGP layer stack, which makes the text box outline visible ... and now, grab the outline with a click & drag.

Or, with the Text box selected in the EGP layer stack, use the controls below to change as thou wist.
