Keyboard shortcuts not working on one file - possible issue with german vs english keyboard?

  • I have a file that my coworker created that I am taking over. Some of my keyboard shortcuts work but others do not. For example I can press the up arrow to navigate to the previous clip but the down arrow does nothing. Ctrl K also does nothing unless I manually select the tracks. When I look at the keyboard shortcuts, everything looks fine. I have tried:
  • resetting the keyboard shortcuts to defaults
  • Changing the workspace
  • resetting the Adobe preferences to defaults
  • copying the keyboard shortcut files from the en folder into the de folder

These shortcuts work fine on files I have created. I wonder if it has anything to do with my coworker being German and using a German keyboard?

I rely on these basic commands and am feeling rather paralyzed without them. Ideas?

Ah! Thank you, Stan. I hadn't noticed that the tracks weren't targetted. It's working now.

Much appreciated.

Track targeting?

If your track is targeted (video or audio), then arrow up/down goes to cuts. If not, shift+up/down goes to next/previous cut in any track.

Same for Ctrl+K; it will only cut targeted tracks.

Okay, I've tried some of the other fixes I've found, and now the Ctrl K is working for cuts. My primary pain point now is that the up arrow directs me all the way back to the beginning of the file rather than to the previous cut. If I press Shift and up arrow, it navigates to the previous cut.
