kind of urgent: how to export one single SRT file that shows 2 subt. tracks ( Macbook M1 - Monterey)

Guys, hi.

I have a subtitle track with the regular captioning (for dialogue translation), but I need to show a second track translation for a graphic card . As you know, you can't keep both visible at the same time.

I have to export a single SRT with all those multiple translations working

Could you kindly help me out?

I'm not sure what you mean by "I need to show a second track translation for a graphic card." But I assume by graphic card you mean a title/caption (as opposed to a dialogue subtitle) that will appear in addition to the dialogue on screen. And it is a translation of a graphic/caption that is displayed on screen (burned in) in the original language. So you do not want to burn in the translation of that graphic.

And no, PR does not support doing that by exporting an SRT with both subtitle tracks. You would have to manually combine them into one subtitle track.

And I can't see a reasonable way to workaround this.

Probably unacceptable, but one option is to burn in any way. In PR versions starting with 23.1, position the captions in Subtitle Track 2 as you wish, select all of them, and then Graphics -> Update caption to graphic. Then edit the position of each as needed and burn those in.

Another option is to export each subtitle track as srt, then use a third party app to combine them as you wish. But I don't know if any one of them will do it.

The third option is to do that manually. Just copy/paste each graphic subtitle into the appropriate other caption as extra lines.

Thanks for adding that. The method he demonstrates burns in the subtitles. I think he is showing both of the two main methods: nest one sequence/subtitle or Upgrade Caption to Graphic for one of the subtitle tracks. But you cannot export these as a sidecar.

You are right. And I did manage to include an extra block in the existing caption.....!

Could you possible clarify to me why does all the style settings I make in my subtitle ( fonts, positioning, size) get lost when I import the SRT I created?

Just to make it clear: I create the SRT (ex: arial, size48 etc), then I export it( from the TEXT PANEL). If I import the SRT again to the project...all those things I created are no longer there anymore....It opens with other font....other positioning...Do you know how to make my standarts to go with the SRT export? Many thanks!

In SRT sidecar file, even "with styling" on, PR will only include Font color.

STL carries more, but can only be exported from EBU caption type.

I need to update my tests. The help guide says very little now.
