Question

Legacy Title reverts to original after being duplicated and changed.

Hi, I work at a community media station and a lot of our users still use Legacy Titles. I have been trying to ween them off and use Essential Graphics but for some projects, Legacy Titles just works better.

One issue that has been occurring is when a Legacy Title is duplicated and the text has been changed, it then reverts back to the original.

I am just wondering if this is a known bug or if any others users have had this issue? If so, is a fix/workaround without using Essential Graphics?

Test in 2019.0.2: Create legacy title - "Title 01" and add text. Select in project panel and "Duplicate" - "Title 01 Copy 01." Edit the copy. Both show in project panel as separate titles and have the different text. I didn't work very hard at it, but I cannot get the text to "revert."

Users have to be careful that they are in the correct title when editing. For example, if the CTI is over Title1 but Title2 is open in the legacy title editor, you will change Title1, not Title2. The classic problem was as Jim says, if you drag a "new copy" of Title1 to the timeline, open, and change it, you have only one title with the new text, and previous placements of Title1 on the timeline show the new text.

I don't recall any instance where a duplicate of a title reverted to the original title text.

My first thought is to make sure you're creating genuinely new titles.  Copies will be synced across the project, change one and you change them all.
