Lenovo Ideapad L340 Troubles

Hi! I have an Lenovo L340 (original specs, no RAM upgrades or anything like that), it was working great with audio editing in Premiere but with videos I am having a lot of trouble. I can move videos around, use the razor tool, but as soon as I want to use something with a drop down arrow, it won't open. That means I can't add effects, or edit the default ones like volume and opacity. Can I fix this with a RAM upgrade or something of that sort? Or is it just an issue with my computer model in general. Any help is appreciated!
