Lighting/color goes wonky when trying to export to MP4 format?

I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro for years now and have no issues.

Recently, however, I think I must have accidentally changed some kind of setting, because I seem to be unable to export edited .MOV video footage to MP4 format without the lighting/color distorting (SEE VIDEO EXAMPLE AT https://youtu.be/eSjMJJk-uVQ). Notice how the video is WAY over-exposed during the export preview? I've tried going through the export process and it's like that the whole way through.

This only seems to happen when I import a video I record on my iPhone (iPhone 13 Pro), import and edit, add some text & graphics, then try to export in a format that I can post on social media.

Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Debbie

My first comment is you are clearly on a Mac ... and you do not have the Preference/General option for "Display color management" selected. That is advisable for all users with uncertain monitor calibration or setups, but is basically required for all Mac users. Due to Apple's unfortunate choice to mis-apply the Rec.709 video standards.

Next ... yes, there are major changes in the color management options and default behaviors. The links that Ann listed are good.

I also wrote a rather lengthy but precise FAQ for this forum listing the changes, the old behaviors, the new behaviors, the new color management options and how to use them. It covers pretty much the issues that so many are having at the moment.

To Neil: Hmmmm.....the Display Color Management option is greyed out and I'm unable to select it. 😞

I did find the Video Rendering and Playback setting, and have chosen the Recommended setting. Was this not correct?

Thank you so much, Ann! (I missed seeing your post until just now)
