Question

losing work just at the end of the of a project in premiere pro.

I am at my wits end with this nonsence, I am combing two project and I am at the end of a project only for the first project to just disappear. My last 30 minutes of editing are lost. I should charge Adobe for my time in inconvience. No amount of Control Z brings its back or undo. you would think an auto save function would make sense or some way to recover this foolishness. Before you ask I am working on a workcenter lap top that can handle this stuff easily. The first time I thought it was on me but after the third time Im looking for another program or suggestion to figure out how to stop my ineffincency

Could be that McGolf is in Icon View. Closed his or her sequence. Now, can't tell the difference between a clip and a sequence, and that the sequence merely needs to be opened.

After looking into this issue a little more deeply, this affects a lot of beginners with Premiere Pro. I can see why, the difference between these two icons is not very discoverable.

McGolf, please show us a screenshot of your Project panel with it fully expanded.

Thank you,

Kevin

Kevin thank you for answering.

I am in whatever mode Premiere opens up into and select the "effects" above as it suits what I do and switch to "editing" . BUT,,, I think it may be something along those lines.

I just closed everything and went to bed. Cooler heads prevailed and I got through it on the 4th time. Just not a fan of rework specifically when it 3x in a row.

count me part of the still learning crew

Thanks for reporting back and for sticking it out, McGolf. The fourth time's a charm, I guess! Switching Workspaces might hide your working sequence or something along those lines. I can totally see that happening. Let me give your problem some more thought. I already reported this issue to the design team just today. I think they agree with you and me. It's easy to lose stuff. By the way, do you like golf? I'm terrible at it but I do help a lot of golf channels on YouTube and I've met the editing team at Callaway. Very nice folks.

Are you in the U.S.? If so, have a wonderful holiday!

Regards,
Kevin

I save all my premiere pro projects to a local folder that automatically gets mirrored on dropbox.   Seems to be working great since I started doing this about 6 months ago.

Make a habit of making Save a Copy to another drive.

I send all my videos to an external drive now.  This more of me not understanding the inner workings of the program.

Thanks because that is a useful thing to know Particuarly now in the age of small SSD and larger SATA drives

so are you saying you don't have an autosave version.?

go to Premiere Pro:  preferences: autosave to see what the interval is.  And go to your Premiere:  edit: project settings to find the location of the autosave folder.

I keep my autosave interval to every 5 minutes.  the autosaves are so quick it's not an issue.   And I always make sure to keep my project file on a different physical hard drive from the autosave folder.
