MacOS Tahoe Adobe support - extremely poor performance

I made the mistake of upgrading my Mac Studio to MacOS Tahoe, and now Premiere is practically impossible to use. Playback is choppy with the program choking on any timeline with more than one clip / effect, and simple edits have crazy input lag. I know how to revert back to Sequioa, but I don't have a Time Machine backup before Tahoe so it seems pointless.

Based on last year's Sequioa release, does anyone have an idea of when Adobe would release a patch to support the new MacOS? Will it be this year since they normally only release 5-6 updates and we're already at 25.5? Anyone else struggling with this and found any workarounds?

DON'T UPDATE YET IF YOU HAVEN'T

Wait wait, you have to enable permissions again. It happened to me and I freaked the **** out.

Settings>Privacy & Security> Give Premiere permission (should be there on that page upon opening it).

Found a fix for this.

[Read fully before executing the fix]

Quit premiere → restart computer → launch premiere while holding option (mac) → check the “reset app preferences” and “clear media cache” boxes → select “continue” to relaunch premiere.

I recommend exporting your keyboard shortcuts (if you use custom ones) before doing this as it will reset them back to the default settings.

To do this go to “Premiere” → “Keyboard Shortcuts” → “Save As” → name your preset → select “okay” to save.

To reinstall the keyboard shortcuts after resetting premiere, go to “Premiere” → “Keyboard Shortcuts” → select the preset from the dropdown menu → click “ok” to save.

Hope this helps someone 🤙

This has not been solved.  I tried all of these things and nothing happens.  My cache is cleared.  There is no option in Privacy and Security does not show "Give Premiere permission (should be there on that page upon opening it)."  as it is NOT on that page upon opening it.   This is really frustrating because I have a lot of work to do and this thing does not work properly.

I did every single suggested thing as well and nothing worked for me. I eventually got online with adobe support and had them remote into my computer and try everything he could to fix it as well. The only thing he could do to fix it was create proxies of every single video in adobe media encoder. (My lagging was only happening on clips i filmed in 4K at 60fps) so i had to create proxies of all those clips to be able to actually complete the project

I second the performance issues.  Never had problems scrubbing through a timeline before, even with 4K video (on 1/2 playback resolution).  Now I have to waste time making proxies all the time.  Don't do Tahoe folks!

My adobe premiere pro is now not opening at all. It tells me "Adobe premiere pro 2025 is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash" I have made sure all updates are done on my mac and my premiere. Ive tried deleting the app and installing an older version. I've tried holding down shift when launching. Nothing is working.

just checked my settings and that permission was turned off for me as well. turned it back on and restarted but won't be able to experiment until later. Really hoping that is the solution!!

Hi,

Thanks for the message and welcome to the forum. I have read that others are having similar issues. Can you try deleting the media cache? Press Shift at launch to get the Reset Options dialog box. There you can delete all the media cache. That may help. Let me know if it does. Sorry for the problem.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi, yes I tried deleting my media cache already. Still running into the same issues.

Thanks for confirming that. The performance seems to be fine on Tahoe at my end. Would you mind confirming if this is happening with any specific media type/effect or all of them?
